Although it cannot replace professional instrument leak detection (such as using particle counters for scanning), it can effectively detect some obvious and visible defects.
The following are several key aspects for visually judging the quality of high-efficiency air filter products:
Check the filter material itself
- Surface damage: Carefully inspect the surface of the filter material for any cracks, perforations, or minor damage. These obvious damages are easily observable to the naked eye. Some particularly minor damages may not be recognizable by the naked eye and require professional equipment for detection.
- Abnormal situation: Observe whether there are signs of excessive pressure or damage caused by other human factors on the filter material.
Check the seal and frame
- The junction between the filter material and the frame: This is one of the most prone areas to leakage. Careful observation is required around the connection between the filter material and the outer frame to ensure that the sealant is filled fully, continuously, without cracks or delamination. In production inspection, most of the efficiency failures are caused by air leaks in this area.
- Sealing strip: If the filter frame has a sealing strip, the joint of the sealing strip should be checked carefully. If the seam is not handled properly, it can cause air leakage. In contrast, polyurethane sealing strips that use on-site foaming have no seams, which can better avoid such problems.
Auxiliary raw material simple judgment (water spray test)
- This is a simple method to preliminarily evaluate the grade of filter paper material through destructive means (water spraying), which can be performed on unimportant parts or samples:
Place the filter flat, spray some water on the filter paper, and observe the water penetration:
- Penetration within 5 minutes: Belongs to cotton pulp paper, is a counterfeit product, not recommended for use.
- Penetration within 2-5 hours: Belongs to low-grade wood pulp paper, although usable, it may affect efficiency and energy consumption.
- Non permeable within 12-15 hours: It belongs to a good mid-range filter paper material.
Non permeable for more than 4 hours: belongs to high-quality and high-end filter paper.
Check the cleanliness of the appearance
- Dust risk: For traditional high-efficiency filters with partitions, if paper partitions are used, attention should be paid to whether there is a possibility of dust generation. At the same time, observe whether the surface of the filter material is clean. If the production environment is poor, the filter material itself may contain a large amount of easily detachable dust.
- Overall appearance: According to the national standard GB/T 13554-2020, appearance itself is an inspection item, and it should be ensured that the filter has no deformation, no pollution, and a complete structure as a whole.
